One
of the new comers to Swallow the Sun, Cameron Teeples began his musical
career by taking piano lessons in elementary school, which he happily gave up
after three years “I hated the piano, I didn’t see any fun in drilling
myself at stupid classical songs.” He
openly admits that it could have been the greatest thing he had ever done, had
he not quit.
Cameron remained musically inactive until his older brother Ryan bought a guitar when Cameron was in ninth grade. Ryan handed him an L.D.S. children’s Hymn book containing all the needed guitar chords to play a large genre of Rock n’ Roll. After showing him how to read the chord fingering, Ryan left Cameron to do the rest on his own. He continued to play the guitar for the next five years consistently never even considering the piano as a instrument of his fancy.
Finally
after years of searching Cameron discovered four other individuals with the
hopes and dreams he had. “We
need an organist” John Haymond said.
“I’ll do it” Cameron replied.
